So it feels like Sunday, it's felt like Sunday for pretty much a week, and this is a great Sunday tune. I can see big things for Clubfeet ! This track has been around for some time now but only seems to now been given a push, so lets push Clubfeet - Edge of Extremes by future classic
There's something about Kitsuné comp's you can just rely on, and the 11th in the series doesn't disappoint, here are some of the stand outs and a nice little mix
While you're ODing on cake and Champagne, waving a little Union Jack flag and shedding an even littler tear, I'll be tit deep in a rever in Wales pretending I know how to fish. Breathing in the crisp, clean, Brecon Beacon air and leaving behind all the Royal Hoo-Har, Rah-Rah.
Cue a Dark Party anthem... Well, I'd like to think it is anyway. Excited about this evenings car journey to Cymru, on the commute to work this morning I popped this bad boy on the iPod and it put a royal spring in my step. I love playing this remix. It's a camp explosion of piano house and disco that is bound to get your Granny out of her chair, skanking in jubilation of the newly weds.
Have a good Bank Holiday. Dont drink too much Buck's Fizz.
The guy at the front of this band changed my life, this is the Night Marchers new single Thar She Blows, its fucking awesome, can't wait for them to tour! They don't make bands like they used to
Always like to keep an eye on SebastiAn as he's one of the first and original big boys of the French music push from the mid 2000s. This Kavinsky remix of the new single Embody is awesome SebastiAn - Embody (Kavinsky Remix) by PaulGuglielmi
Everyone is gonna compare this to Azari & III because its in the same vein, but fuck it, its still a tune! Pure 90s new jack swing vibe to it too B.C. x Delivery - Return To Me by ScionAV
Gerard Smith bass player for Tv On The Radio passed away today, following a courageous fight against lung cancer. The guy was so understated in their live show but was such an important part of one of the biggest game changing bands of our time
Our thoughts are with the Smith family and the band
Tom Vek is back! Don't know where he's been, maybe finishing off his GCSE's? Who cares? This guy used to rule the dance floor with tunes a plenty off one great album, fingers crossed for this one
was on Saturday. I managed to pop into Resident in Brighton and get a couple of records, one of them being the latest relase from Wild Beasts:
A bit of a different direction for the new album, which is available in May. I'm seeing them at Wilton's Music Hall, which should be fun, I've never been there before. I've got a feeing it could be an intimate affair.
So on a bored sunday afternoon i'm trawling through soundcloud after getting some mad spam attack from some shit electropop "producer". As you do when you're bored on such sites as soundcloud, you start doing silly searches. Like "Luton" our home town. I've always know Luton once had a solid Hip Hop comunity pushed forward by the legends that are Phi Life Cypher (ABC) , i didn't know it was still going, and VERY strong.
Check out a few tracks from local boys Sons of South below, you'll become addicted! Everything about this is amazing! Below are 2 of my personal faves, enjoy your sunny sunday
Is Tropical are a band we're fans of, we like them, and on 13th June they'll be releasing their debut album Native To Here's the new single for FREE all you have to do is give them your email address...
A catchy little number here, but its ALL about the video. My very good chum Rohan from Decoy has created a summer fueled, seaside masterpiece, which accompanies the song perfectly.
Check their website for more of the same, two very talented chaps...
Ladytron have just released a "Best of" and i always forget how much i loved them when i was younger. I was lucky enough to work on press for Light & Magic, which was probably for me their best album, BUT my fave song has to be this above, just great, the first album was more about being moody arrogant french girls with key boards than anything else
I was told about Fixers by an old friend, who informed me that live these guys were amazing, being sent some new stuff refreshed my memory. On 9th May they release "Here comes 2001, So Lets All Head For The Sun" and it sounds awesome! You should check them out, they're playing loads of live dates over the next few months
Was told about Flash Fiktion awhile ago, when they released Leni. Was into it, but wasn't totally sold on it. Then they release Capsules Of Sun, and its great! Check the video out above
When you wake up, and one of your best mates has just recorded a podcast for Defected, it's kind of a big deal. Zoo Look, look as if they're going to blow up in a big way, and I couldn't be happier. An absolutly HUGE big up to Alex, Sam and Craig on what will be a massively bright and world dominating future. I'm willing to put money on that.
No idea where or how i found them, but im takt are amazing! Hailing from France with their instrumental sounds. Think Foals, Cold Puma's, ESG, Duracell but positive, here's there EP on a nice little player, enjoy
Having the pleasure of seeing Suuns in Brighton was a highlight, they remind me a bit of clinic but if they went the other way... Real dark, aggressive and moving vibe about this band. Something primal about it too
Here are some UK dates, you shouldn't miss them...
14th May - Liverpool, Mojo 15th May - Glasgow, Captains Rest 16th May - London, Corsica Studios
And here are some Free tracks to get you in the vibe
Sun Airway just fell on my lap, and i'm so happy for it! Reminding me of part animal collective or even LCD Soundsystem, but with a pop vibe of postal service. A 2 piece based in Philly, recorded the album in their basement, who needs studios right? Here are some free tracks for your ears and a lovely little video
I've been keeping an eye on MNDR for a while now, and thought everyone would go nuts for her after doing the vocal on the Mark Ronson track "bang bang bang" but obviously not! This remix by Hervé of the last single is great, and hopefully push this girl forward.
I can not get enough of Tyson at the moment. There is just something positively seedy about his sound, it's amazing. A real smooth vocal with a great late 80s synth line running all over it. Die On The Dancefloor was the first thing I heard, and then found out the new single, Out Of My Mind, was out soon, I HAD to spread the word! I'm shocked I haven't blogged about this sooner.
DARK PARTY is originally a Saturday club night in Luton, playing whatevers fun to dance too /new indie/electo/alt/dub
we came out of the ass end of ssshhhh!!!who, in its short life managed to pull off parties in office blocks, and disused hair dressers. putting on Tiger Force, CockNBullKidand T3ETH
